FINDING PEACE
In the movie “Miss Congeniality”, contestants answered questions from the judges and always ended with the phrase “AND WORLD PEACE”. This answer always drew tremendous applause from the audience.
Deep down inside, all of us long for peace, rest for our mind, our body, and yes, our spirit. We try all sorts of things to fill the void inside of us. We use cars, drugs, gambling, sports, sex, television, pornography, and much more to try to cover our pain.
Eventually these all fail.
Now enters a man into history who says he can give you peace, not like the world gives peace, but in an inner, spiritual way that will last for all time.
His name is Jesus Christ. He lived in Israel over 2000 years ago and His words and teachings are carefully preserved in the Bible.
We don’t know peace because we don’t know the author of peace.
Almighty God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live on the earth and show people what God was like. He lived a perfectly sin-free life and was crucified on a cross. Why would God send His Son to live a sinless life and have Him die so cruelly?
Because God loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you.
John 3:16 says that “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life”
The Bible goes on to say that you and I are sinful, imperfect people (and you know that’s the truth) and that without the forgiveness of our sin, we will die separated from God for all time. This is why you don’t have peace, because you are separated from God.
In John 16:33 Jesus says “that in Me you may have peace” In the book of Acts, Peter says “that God doesn’t show favoritism, He sent His message to the Sons of Israel proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ”
It is simple to state: No Jesus, No Peace, Know Jesus, Know Peace!
Romans 6:23 states that the payment for our sin is Death, eternal separation from God with no peace. In fact that is what you have now.
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”
What does it all mean?? How does all this information help?? What should I do to find the Peace of God???
Romans 10:9,10 “If you will confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation”
Allowing Christ to come into your life, forgiving you of your wrong doings will bring you peace that you have never known before.
Simply pray in your own words to God. He will hear you. Pray something like this:
God, I know that I am a sinner, please forgive me, pardon my sins, take them away from me. I know that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sins. I know that He was dead and you raised Him from the grave. I believe in You. I give you control of my life. Come into my life and make a difference. Thank you for hearing my prayer and answering it. I want to tell someone about my decision, please show me someone I can tell. In Jesus Name, Amen. (so be it)
If you prayed a prayer similar to the one above and you really meant it, God has forgiven your sin and you are now on your way to heaven. Until then, start by telling someone, get a bible and read the book called JOHN. Find a good bible believing church and go and talk to someone there. Call or email us. Please let us know if we can be of help to you.
God bless you on a wonderful, life changing decision. Now go and “Live Out Loud”
